Holly Farris, UGA MSW Intern

Shey/They

Hello, my name is Holly (she/they)! I am a second year clinical MSW student, and counselor in training, with a background in promoting ethical, inclusive, and appropriate practice with Queer+ relationships/individuals. I am interested in working with clients learning to process/overcome grief and loss, self-esteem/body image, complex trauma, interpersonal relationships, and identity. I am specifically versed in issues related to relationship health, disordered eating, and body image/self-esteem. I practice from a Health at Every Size (HAES) standpoint with core tenets of body positivity/neutrality. My ideology emphasizes intersectionality and the importance of acknowledging/understanding systems of power, privilege, and oppression that contribute to daily challenges a client may face.

Holly takes Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare and Aetna insurance. They also have sliding scale availability as low as $30/session.

Theoretical Orientation:

My eclectic theoretical approach is person centered, strengths based, and solution focused. I strive to provide a judgment free and collaborative therapeutic experience through integrative, compassionate, care. The theories/tools I currently pull from include Internal Family Systems (IFS), Systems Theory, Attachment Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Expressive Arts/Play Media, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Constructionism, Critical Disability Theory, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). Our sessions will promote mindfulness while challenging you to deconstruct unhelpful beliefs by critically examining your life story and current mindset. Ultimately, my goal is to help you achieve your goals and lead a more intentional/thoughtful life congruent with your true core values.
