Em Simpson, UGA MSW Intern

She/They

Hi! I’m Em (she/they). I am a second-year clinical student MSW. I would love to work with clients who are navigating their sexuality, gender identity, and neurodivergent disorders. I am particularly interested in working with clients dealing with interpersonal relationships and finding their identities. I work from a HAES (Health at Every Size) framework that promotes body neutrality and loving bodies of all sizes. My ideology focuses on intersectionality and giving voices to those who have been systematically oppressed such as queer, disabled, gender-divergent, and neurodivergent folks.

Em takes Blue Cross/ Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, and Aetna insurance. Em is also available for sliding scale sessions as low as $30/session.

Theoretical Orientation:

I will be working along the framework of Relational-Cultural Therapy. This type of therapy focuses on the relationships in the client's life (such as friendships and romantic/sexual relationships) and maintaining healthy relationships. I will be using tools such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Play Therapy, a Humanistic perspective, and a strengths-based perspective.
